Nursing homes and assisted living facilities, prisons and jails, hospitals and community health centers. In nearly every setting imaginable, ID specialists are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, not only aiding in the current COVID-19 response but also preparing us for the next pandemic. A new report, Infectious Diseases Experts: America’s Link Back to Everyday Life — a joint collaborative effort between IDSA and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security — captures just how valuable infectious diseases professionals are to America’s health care system and society and sheds light on critical policies needed to ensure they are well positioned to help America for decades to come.

IDSA worked in collaboration with the Ad Council on its national “Mask Up, America” campaign, launched during the pandemic to increase compliance and acceptance of wearing masks as one of the main prevention measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, in addition to vaccination, social distancing and hand washing.
COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network
With funding from CDC, IDSA launched the COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network, a curated, multidisciplinary resource guide. The Real-Time Learning Network brings together the latest clinical guidelines, institutional protocols, clinical trials data, practice tools and resources from a variety of medical subspecialties around the world.
