Dr. Vishakh C. Keri is an infectious diseases fellow at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University in Michigan and is part of the Global Health and Urban Equity scholars’ program at WSU. He is from one of the pioneer cohorts of residents from a new, six-year integrated internal medicine and ID program at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, that began enrolling in 2016. He graduated from the program, the first of its kind in India, in 2022 with a doctorate of medicine degree. He moved to the U.S. to gain a global perspective on ID. His goal is to promote the field through medical education. His special interests include infections in immunocompromised hosts, and he wishes to progress his career in the field of transplant ID. His training in India has made him aware of the unique challenges in the management of tuberculosis, MDR gram-negative infections and a variety of other infections typically seen in developing countries.
