IDSA Launches COVID-19 Website for Frontline Clinicians with Support from CDC
Latest Information on Fighting Virus Curated by Multi-Disciplinary Team
With funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Infectious Diseases Society of America has launched the COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network microsite. The site brings together the latest clinical guidance, institutional protocols, clinical trials data, practice tools and resources from a variety of medical subspecialties around the world.
IDSA recognizes that a vigorous, multi-disciplinary response is key to winning the battle against COVID-19. The information provided by the Real-Time Learning Network site is curated by medical experts with the goal to help clinicians from a variety of disciplines and other decision-makers coordinate their response to this pandemic.
“As this pandemic evolves, our efforts to fight it must represent a coordinated effort across the entire medical community. IDSA is proud to work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to create a platform for sharing the very latest experience and research from every field of medicine,” said Thomas M. File, Jr. M.D., MSc, FIDSA
The RTLN site provides links to a variety of interactive programs and learning opportunities for clinicians not only practicing in infectious diseases, but also in critical care, emergency medicine, and other specialties. The information is curated by medical editors to make the information available in a succinct, easily accessible format for busy frontline clinicians. The site highlights resources on trending clinical and research topics. It also provides access to IDSA’s COVID-19 Podcast Series as well as information on the weekly CDC/IDSA COVID-19 Clinician Calls.
“The dynamic nature of the COVID-19 pandemic presents a constant challenge to rapidly capture the latest knowledge and inform clinical and public health practice. Our partnership with IDSA and the availability of this new microsite supports our efforts to get the latest science, guidance, and best practices to the clinical community. We will continue to support frontline clinicians, who are serving alongside public health experts to prevent and control COVID-19, while working to provide the best care for their patients,” said Henry Walke, MD, MPH, Director of CDC’s Division of Preparedness and Emerging Infections (DPEI) in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID).
In addition to its medical editors, the information on the site is guided by a multi-disciplinary Advisory Group consisting of medical representatives from 11 medical societies:
- American Academy of Family Physicians
- American Academy of Pediatrics
- American College of Emergency Physicians
- American College of Physicians
