Courses & Classes

Fellows In-Training Exam

The Fellows In-Training Exam (ITE) gives fellows an opportunity to identify areas in which they need additional programmatic instruction and self-directed learning. Test takers are able to compare their scores with fellows nationwide.

IDSA Antimicrobial Stewardship Curricula

The CORE AS Curriculum is designed to provide ID fellows with a foundation in antimicrobial stewardship, regardless of their ultimate career plans; while the Advanced Curriculum is intended to provide ID fellows with the knowledge and skills to become leaders in antimicrobial stewardship. The curricula is also available in a self-study version for CME/MOC/CPE credits.

Infection Control Course

The course "Primer on Healthcare Epidemiology, Infection Control & Antimicrobial Stewardship: Online ID Fellows" is a product of the membership of the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) and is endorsed by Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) and Pediatric Infectious Disease Society (PIDS).

Manuscript Publishing

The IDWeek 2015 session, How to Write a Publishable Manuscript, provides an overview of the characteristics of manuscripts that are published successfully in the leading infectious disease journals, along with details regarding each of the journals.

IDSA, with funding provided by CDC, has created a joint infectious diseases and CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service fellowship pilot program for ID physicians. G.E.R.M. ProgramExternal Link

The G.E.R.M (Grants for Emerging Researchers/Clinicians Mentorship) program provide grants to medical students to support a longitudinal mentored clinical learning and/or research project for up to a year, on infectious diseases-related topics including HIV under the mentorship of an IDSA or HIVMA member. This program replaced the IDSA Medical Scholars and HIVMA Medical Students Programs.

International ID Observership Opportunities

International opportunities for ID fellows to observe infectious diseases clinical care programs abroad. Observership coordination should be arranged directly between the interested fellow and the institution.
