In June 2023, the IDSA Board of Directors approved an updated volunteer structure that ensures that our governance structure aligns with our strategic plan and that individuals who volunteer are empowered to do their best work. Our goal is to build volunteer opportunities that are accessible and meaningful, and enhance our collective impact on the field of ID.

Coordinating Council

Coordinates the execution of the strategic plan.  Identifies and/or approves opportunities within existing strategic priority areas.

IDWeek Program Committee

Plans the scientific program for the annual IDWeek meeting. Shares reporting to HIVMA, SHEA, PIDS, and SIDP leadership.

Journals Committee

Ensure that IDSA’s journals portfolio supports and contributes to the Society’s strategic priorities, helps IDSA stay abreast of publishing trends and the scholarly publishing environment, and ensure’ IDSA's journals remain the leading journals in ID.

Professional Development Committee

Antimicrobial Stewardship Curriculum Subcommittee 

Builds the framework and content needed to provide fellows in training with the education, knowledge and expertise to incorporate antimicrobial stewardship and its guiding principles into daily practice

Designs and delivers training content for the IDSA Leadership Institute.

Antimicrobial Stewardship Centers of Excellence Subcommittee

Provides strategic oversight and direction to IDSA’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Centers of Excellence (AS CoE) program, a designation program designed to promote excellence in optimizing antimicrobial use and combating antimicrobial resistance, by recognizing institutions that effectively demonstrate excellence in this work.

Coding and Payment Subcommittee

Monitor and advise IDSA staff on issues related to ID coding and payment, including Medicare and other third-party payer policies to improve coverage; develop resources on coding and documentation of ID care and services; and serve as IDSA’s Specialty RVS Committee, as required by the RUC's guidelines for specialty societies

Quality Measures and Improvement Subcommittee

Monitors and advises IDSA staff on issues related to ID quality measurement and improvement; develops measures, tools and resources to improve the quality of ID care and services; collaborates with others to implement measures into payer and quality improvement initiatives; and approaches quality measurement of ID clinical care in a manner that promotes the value of the ID clinician to the broader health care system.

Standards and Practice Guidelines Subcommittee

Establishes IDSA as the scientific voice on issues and standards related to infectious diseases; monitors, develops, and makes recommendations to establish clinical policy on infectious diseases related issues; makes recommendations and oversees the development of practice guidelines or any other standard setting documents including those done in collaboration with other groups.

Public Policy and Advocacy Committee

Work with IDSA staff to develop and implement public policy and advocacy objectives to advance strategic priorities and initiatives set by the IDSA board, for example: strengthening the ID workforce and ID compensation, combating AMR and strengthening the antibiotic/antifungal pipeline, and enhancing pandemic/outbreak preparedness and response, and additional domestic and global policy issues as needed.

Advocacy Captains Subcommittee

Working with IDSA and HIVMA staff, serve as lead IDSA/HIVMA interface with assigned high impact congressional representatives, senators and their staff and promote advocacy opportunities to the IDSA membership.

Society Awards Committee

Oversees the Society’s recognition awards program, including soliciting Society award nominees from the membership, ensuring a broad swath of nominations from diverse groups in alignment with our IDA&E principles. The committee recommends a slate of awardees to the board each year.
